Frankfurt School of Finance & Management is one of Europe’s leading business schools, accredited by AACSB, AMBA and EQUIS.  We invite applications for the following position:

Professor of Practice in Digital Finance and Technology

Objectives of the role:

  • Conduct both applied and fundamental research in the area of digital finance and technologies including blockchain;
  • Provide overall leadership for the FS Blockchain Centre
    • Develop a distributed leadership structure that enables the Centre to grow across its different areas of work (research projects, partnerships with private and public-sector stakeholders, networking and public relations, programme development, etc.);
    • Oversee the development of new lines of activity for the FSBC and ensure its ongoing viability;
  • Provide overall responsibility for the development and delivery of high-quality degree and non-degree programmes (e.g., executive education) in the area of blockchain, financial technologies, and related areas at Frankfurt School; and take an active role in teaching in these programmes.


Essential role requirements:

  • A sound understanding of both finance (financial markets, financial [dis-]intermediation, financial and non-financial assets, financial transformation, crypto currencies and markets, monetary economics) and of the underlying technologies and their application (e.g., distributed ledger technologies, blockchain, tokenization, etc.);
  • For this tenured position as Professor of Practice, the candidate will have:
    • A doctoral degree in an area related to the above topics from a reputable academic institution, preferably in the business school context;
    • Several years of academic experience with a publication profile that covers both academic / fundamental publications as well as practice-oriented publications;
    • Experience in obtaining project funding from external partners (including industry partners); experience in project development and execution, in particular with projects involving multiple stakeholders;
    • Teaching experience across different levels in the areas described above;
    • An interdisciplinary mindset and experience in working in interdisciplinary project teams;
    • Strong leadership and communication skills, and the ability and credibility to represent Frankfurt School in the area of financial technology, broadly conceived.


Desirable:

  • A well-established national and international network;
  • Entrepreneurial mindset; desire and ability to support entrepreneurial activities (e.g., start-ups and scale-ups) in the area of financial technology (FinTech) within the FS community;
  • Experience  in developing innovative programmes as well as networking / communication formats.


The position will be affiliated with the Finance Department. However, as the FS Blockchain Centre has an explicitly interdisciplinary orientation, building strong connections with members of other departments within FS, and with academic and practice partners from other institutions and areas of expertise, is explicitly encouraged.
